ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Indianapolis has signed free agent linebacker Ernie Sims, the second former first-round draft pick to join the Colts in less than 24 hours.

Sims’ agent, Todd France, says the deal is for one year. He did not provide financial details.

For the Colts, this represents a signing frenzy. On Monday night, they picked up defensive lineman Jamaal Anderson, Atlanta’s first-round pick in 2007. Sims was Detroit’s first-round pick in 2006. Indy has only one other unrestricted free agent on the roster, kicker Adam Vinatieri.

The 6-foot, 230-pound Sims seems to fit a Colts system that prefers speed to size. He has 475 career tackles and 412 sacks in five seasons, the first four in Detroit. Last year, he had 55 tackles and two sacks with Philadelphia.
