PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A rescue was under way for a Portland woman in the Mount Hood wilderness after she was spotted by an Oregon Army National Guard helicopter crew.
The Oregonian reported (http://bit.ly/oN5rQP ) that 28-year-old Pamela Salant was spotted Tuesday sitting on a log in Lindsey Creek in a rugged area of the wilderness.
Hood River County Sheriff Joe Wampler said Salant waved at the helicopter crew and a medivac helicopter was dispatched from Salem to take her to a Portland hospital.
The spot where Salant was found is about a mile and a half north of the campground where she went missing.
