A man found dead early Monday in the backyard of a burning house apparently set the fire and committed suicide, a Vancouver police and fire investigation has tentatively concluded.
The identity of the man and the exact manner of his death were not released, pending additional investigation by the Vancouver Arson Team and Vancouver Police Major Crimes Unit, police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in a press release.
Vancouver firefighters were called to a house at 212 N. Lieser Road early Monday morning after neighbors reported hearing an explosion. They found the single-story house engulfed in flames and a man’s body in the backyard.
The house is owned by David Delano and has an estimated value of $50,942, with the land valued at $57,100, according to county property records. The house, which was built in 1954, was a total loss, officials said.
