ST. LOUIS (AP) — Saint Louis is set to hold the first in a series of open practices without coach Rick Majerus, who had a stent inserted into his heart recently.

The school has rarely opened the Billikens’ practices under Majerus but is making an exception for the leadup to a 10-day trip to Canada beginning on Aug. 19. Team spokesman Brian Kunderman said Majerus would not be at the first workout on Monday and didn’t know if the head coach would attend the second workout on Wednesday.

The 63-year-old Majerus had the procedure done in Salt Lake City. Majerus said in a statement issued by the school Sunday night that he felt great and was looking forward to the start of the season.
