Downhill Diva wins feature at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Downhill Diva drew off in the stretch to win Thursday’s $70,000 American Technologies Purse at Del Mar by 514 lengths.

Ridden by Brice Blanc, Downhill Diva ran one mile on the synthetic Polytrack surface in 1:35.42 and paid $19, $7.80 and $3.80 at 8-1 odds, the longest in the field.

Toro Bonito returned $7.20 and $3, while Awesomemundo was another half-length back in third and paid $2.40 to show. Both are trained by Bob Baffert.

The victory, worth $54,600, increased Downhill Diva’s career earnings to $193,422, with five wins in 16 starts.
