ARBROATH, Scotland (AP) — Former world champion distance runner Liz McColgan will stand trial after being charged with attacking her husband at home.

The 47-year-old Scot has denied repeatedly punching Peter McColgan on his head and body on July 12.

In a hearing at Arbroath Sheriff Court on Thursday, McColgan also denied causing fear and alarm during the incident by throwing clothes down the stairs and out of the window.

The former world champion and Olympic silver medalist at 10,000 meters is due to stand trial in November.

As well as being a two-time gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games, McColgan has won the New York, London and Tokyo marathons.
