Missing teenage Medford hiker found safe

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A southern Oregon teenager who went missing on Mount McLoughlin during a hike with his youth group has been brought home safely.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/q8MxmY ) 17-year-old Max Burleigh of Medford, Ore., was found by search-and-rescue volunteers on horseback on Wednesday afternoon.

Burleigh sent a cell phone picture that helped rescuers pin down his location. He was missing for one day.

Burleigh became separated from his group on the descent from the mountain. He was dehydrated but otherwise unhurt.
