EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Broad Bahn has won the $1.5 million Hambletonian, giving driver George Brennan a sweep of the two biggest races for 3-year-old trotters.

The victory in the Hambletonian came a little more than 30 minutes after Brennan guided Bold and Fresh to an upset victory in the Hambletonian Oaks for fillies.

Broad Bahn trotted the mile in 1:53, getting to the wire 3 14 lengths ahead of longshot Whiskey Tax.

Opening Night, who was looking to give driver John Campbell a seventh Hambletonian win, finished third. That was just ahead of Chapter Seven, who was trying to make Linda Toscano the first female trainer to win trotting’s most prestigious race.

Favored Manofmanymissions finished eighth after a late break.
