The July 30 story “Grove Field airport hovers over Camas-Washougal port contest” on the port commissioner race correctly identifies Grove Field as the issue inspiring Neil Cahoon and David Luse to challenge Commissioner Bill Ward.
In their voter’s pamphlet statements, both Cahoon and Luse forgot to mention Grove Field, or even that they are pilots. Instead, they claim they are running to bring transparency, jobs and fiscal responsibility to the port. These are the very areas where Commissioner Ward has led the port to huge advances in his first term, and where the previous commission, strongly supported by both challengers, was sorely lacking. They also forgot to mention that.
