GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) — A man has been arrested in Gresham on suspicion of killing a 1-year-old girl.

The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/oWFQzF) that 22-year-old Jeffrey Locker was arrested on Friday in connection with the death of Brooklyn Saechao.

Gresham Police Sgt. Wallace Coon says paramedics responded to the home on Tuesday afternoon when Locker called to say his daughter had hit her head on an object in the house. She was taken to a hospital but died on Thursday.

The relationship between Locker and the girl was unclear. Detectives investigating the case found that Locker had left the Portland area. Police say he was found Friday north of Milton-Freewater in eastern Oregon heading toward Washington.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail pending arraignment on murder and manslaughter charges.
