STEILACOOM, Wash. (AP) — Two men have been killed in Washington train accidents in less than 24 hours.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas says that on Friday night, a pedestrian was hit in Kent by a northbound Amtrak train, around 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday just before noon, another pedestrian was hit and killed by a northbound freight train near the ferry terminal in Steilacoom (STIH’-luh-koom).

Train traffic was delayed for about three hours after the accident. Identification for neither man has been released.

Melonas urges members of the pubic to be careful near train tracks and to remember that trains can move on any track in any direction at any time.
