COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets reached agreement with Dalton Smith on a three-year entry level contract and Ryan Russell on a one-year, two-way NHL-American Hockey League deal.

Smith was the team’s second-round pick in 2010, taken 34th overall. He played with Ottawa of the Ontario Hockey League last season.

General manager Scott Howson posted on his Twitter account: “Dalton was very good at development camp. Always at the top in terms of conditioning.”

Russell was acquired in a trade from Montreal in exchange for right wing Mike Blunden on July 7. He had 10 goals and 11 assists in 65 games with Hamilton of the AHL last season.
