SEATTLE (AP) — The No. 10 that for so long was attached to the name Jake Locker at Washington now belongs to freshman linebacker John Timu.

While Locker is now gone to the NFL and the Tennessee Titans, Washington began fall practice on Monday on a definite uptick following its late season run a year ago that was capped with a 19-7 win over Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl.

Coach Steve Sarkisian understands the biggest questions involve how the Huskies will replace Locker. It will likely be sophomore Keith Price taking over after earning the No. 1 spot during spring practice, but redshirt freshman Nick Montana will also get his looks during camp.

Sarkisian’s bigger concern is on defense, where the Huskies must replace both starting outside linebackers and the starting strong safety.
