Sawdust pile burning at Port of Longview

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Firefighting agencies from Washington and Oregon are working together to put out a sawdust pile fire at the Port of Longview.

KGW-TV (http://bit.ly/pggH0v ) reports emergency crews were called to the port around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Fire Chief Jay Tappan of Columbia River Fire & Rescue in Oregon says it’s hard to tell how long the fire at Longview Fibre will burn. He says It could smolder for a few days. There have been no reports of injuries.

Longview Fibre’s sawdust is used as pulp for manufacturing paper products.
