KELSO, Wash. (AP) — Cowlitz County sheriff’s officers have arrested a brother-in-law of a man found fatally beaten a week ago behind the Kelso, Wash., home where he was staying.

The Daily News of Longview http://bit.ly/qfRnb1 reports that 38-year-old Sergey Fedoruk of Kelso was arrested Monday for investigation of second-degree murder in the death of Serhiy Ishchenko. A sheriff’s spokesman says Fedoruk has been held in the Cowlitz County Jail on a probation violation since Aug. 1, the day the body was discovered.

Chief Criminal Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig says blood on a sweatshirt Fedoruk was said to be wearing the night of the killing tested positive for Ischenko’s DNA.

County Coroner Tim Davidson said the 48-year-old victim died of multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries.
