PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The latest floating restroom on Oregon’s waters is going on popular Timothy Lake in the Mount Hood National Forest.
The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/ruwDqt) when it’s installed next spring it will be the 25th floating restroom in the state.
Most of the $131,000 cost for the boaters’ outhouse comes from federal money with about $33,000 from Portland General Electric, which is responsible for maintenance.
The Oregon State Marine Board says the floating restrooms are built to withstand 5-foot waves. They have double aluminum hulls and won’t sink even if the outer hull is somehow punctured.
