Letter: Congress needs balanced budget

The Columbian
Published: August 8, 2011, 5:00pm

I think we need a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget each year. And in the event that a budget is passed that is not in balance, all members of Congress who voted for such a budget should forfeit their salaries for the rest of their term of office.

Then once their current term is over, they should lose their United States citizenship so that they can never hold elected office in this country again.
