SEATTLE (AP) — A federal judge has agreed to delay until May 1 the trial of two men charged with planning to attack a Seattle military recruiting station. U.S. District Judge James Robart on Monday granted a joint motion filed by federal prosecutors and lawyers for 32-year-old Walli Mujahidh of Los Angeles. The Seattle Times says (http://bit.ly/oCWW2y) the judge cited the complexity of the case and the amount of evidence gathered by police and the FBI. The trial had been set to begin Sept. 7.
Mujahidh and 33-year-old Khalid Abdul-Latif of Seattle are charged by indictment with conspiracy to murder federal agents and officers, as well as conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction. Both have pleaded not guilty.
Abdul-Latif did not oppose the continuance motion but did not join it.
