BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier has been let go as the school faces sanctions due to violations by its highly successful football program and other sports.
University President Bob Kustra announced late Wednesday that Bleymaier’s career of almost 30 years at the school will end Sept. 8.
Bleymaier is responsible for Boise State’s signature blue football turf.
Kustra says in a statement that he didn’t come to the decision lightly.
But Kustra says he determined that new leadership is needed as the school commits to a high level of attention to and enforcement of NCAA standards.
