TONASKET, Wash. (AP) — Fire crews are working to contain a wildfire in north-central Washington that has burned 400 acres east of Tonasket.
Fire spokesman Guy Gifford says the Marlys Road Fire is burning in sagebrush and scattered ponderosa pine. About 135 firefighters are assigned to the blaze.
Gifford says 13 homes were briefly threatened and one outbuilding burned Tuesday evening before crews were able to build trails and bulldozer lines around it. The fire is not yet contained.
In south-central Washington, a fire burning in southwestern Walla Walla County between Wallula and Touchet is 90 percent contained. That fire has burned more than 4,500 acres or about 7 square miles.
No injuries have been reported at either fire. The causes are under investigation.
