COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The 2010 season was vacated. The head coach’s job was vacated. Now a bunch of 20-somethings coming off summer vacation are left with the previously unfathomable task of picking up the pieces at tattered Ohio State.

The Buckeyes face an uncertain future, with heavy personnel losses and NCAA penalties in the wake of a memorabilia-for-cash scandal that led to coach Jim Tressel being forced out and star quarterback Terrelle Pryor declining to return for his senior season.

Shoving aside all the violations and allegations, Ohio State has major questions on the field, starting with who is going to take Pryor’s spot.

The only thing known for certain is that the Buckeyes have never faced a season quite like this in their 122 years of competition.
