COZAD, Neb. (AP) — Law officers are looking for an Oregon man who they think escaped from a vehicle in Cozad.

The Nebraska State Patrol says a state trooper tried to pull over a vehicle Tuesday night on U.S. Highway 30 west of Lexington. The patrol says the vehicle matched one listed in a report on an Oregon fugitive, 33-year-old Roy Fritts Jr., of Union, Ore. Troopers chased the vehicle after it took off. The driver and a passenger then fled the vehicle in Cozad and escaped on foot.

Dawson County deputies suspect Fritts later stole a pickup from a Cozad business, Paulsen Construction.

The patrol says Fritts is believed to be traveling with his wife, 35-year-old Jessica Fritts.

The patrol says Roy Fritts has an extensive criminal history and is considered dangerous.
