A power failure left thousands without electricity for about an hour Thursday morning in East Vancouver.

The failure was caused by a “burned up bushing” at the Fisher substation according to Clark Public Utilities spokeswoman Erica Erland. She said a crew fixed the problem and restored power to the 4,749 customers that were affected by the outtage a little before 8 a.m.

Traffic lights at several intersections went dark but are now back online.

Power went out around 6:40 a.m. according to one resident.
