DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) — Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is set to start playing in minor league games as part of a rehabilitation program for an injured right knee.

Tampa Yankees manager Luis Sojo said Rodriguez will hit third in the lineup as the designated hitter for Friday night’s Class-A game against Dunedin. A-Rod is scheduled to play in the field for five or six innings in Saturday’s game between the teams.

The three-time AL MVP had right knee surgery July 14.

The Yankees expect Rodriguez, who is hitting .295 with 13 home runs and 52 RBIs this season, to rejoin the team next week.
