RENTON, Wash. (AP) — All the work leading up to the NFL draft was over. Mark LeGree, despite playing at Appalachian State, knew he would get a shot at playing in the pros after being taken in the fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks.
There was just the pesky lockout delaying the start of his professional career.
Feeling himself getting bored while doing offseason workouts in Boone, N.C., LeGree decided he would pass the time during the lockout by going back to working construction, a job he held in between his junior and senior years at Appalachian State.
So for most of June and part of July, LeGree was building retaining walls and hauling large rocks while the NFL labor strife dragged on. Now he’s fighting for a roster spot in Seattle’s young secondary.
