SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — Police have lifted a lockdown at Santa Monica College that began with a telephone report of an armed man on the Southern California campus.

Santa Monica police Lt. Kathy Keane said Tuesday that someone had called police after hearing what sounded like a gunshot. After an extensive search of the school, officers found no evidence of a gunman or any gunshot.
