OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington voters have until 8 p.m. to submit their ballots for this year’s primary election.
The vote Tuesday is led by a Seattle ballot that asks voters to give the go-ahead to a tunnel project that would reshape the city’s waterfront. Officials have been debating how to replace the aging Alaskan Way Viaduct for years.
The primary election is dominated by local races for mayor, school board, city council positions around the state. There are no statewide races on the ballot, and about 20 percent of Washington voters did not have an election to decide Tuesday.
This election is Washington’s first all-mail vote, with Pierce County being the last to switch. Ballots for the primary must be postmarked Tuesday, or voters can take their ballots to drop-off sites by 8 p.m.
