BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A Washington state trucker faces a felony vehicular manslaughter charge in northern Idaho, where police say he lost control of his semi tractor-trailer last winter and struck the car of a 27-year-old Montana woman, who later died of her injuries.

Court records show a preliminary hearing for Yuriy Kushniruk, of Vancouver, Wash., has been scheduled for Aug. 30 in Idaho’s Shoshone County.

Police say Kushniruk was traveling too fast for road conditions on Jan. 6 when he lost control of his truck and went over the center median on Interstate 90 near Wallace and struck a car head-on. The driver of the car, Kate Cummings of Missoula, Mont., died of her injuries six days after the crash.

KPAX-TV first reported Kushniruk was being charged in Idaho.
