SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Salem police say a tractor-trailer rig driver who pulled into the parking lot of a small mall to ask directions was struck and killed when his truck began rolling forward.
Lt. Jim Anglemier said the truck began rolling Wednesday while the driver was inside a business asking for assistance. It first hit a parked car. The driver raced outside in an apparent effort to get the truck stopped but he was run over. The truck continued across the parking lot and damaged the exterior of a dry cleaners. No one else was hurt.
The driver was not immediately identified pending notification of relatives.
