WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Tony Stewart finished ninth in the 30-lap sprint car A-Main feature Wednesday night at the Red River Valley Speedway.

The two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion started in the sixth row of the 24-car A-Main field on the three-eighths mile dirt track. He’s winless in five A-Main features at the West Fargo track.

Donny Schatz of Fargo won the race.

Stewart won the B-Main feature to advance to the A-Main. Stewart finished seventh in his heat race after qualifying with the fourth fastest time during time trials.

Wednesday marked the third time Stewart raced at the West Fargo track this summer, driving a late model and sprint car for those other two dates. Stewart also raced at the Red River Valley Speedway two times last summer.
