YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — The Yakima County sheriff’s office says two people in a small plane were uninjured when they crash-landed Wednesday evening in an alfalfa field about 11 miles northwest of the Yakima Airport.

The pilot said the engine failed and he was forced down. The landing gear crumpled and one wing was damaged.

The pilot, a 63-year-old Cowiche man, and the 18-year-old passenger from Zillah, were out of the plane when emergency responders arrived.
