SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Spokane firefighter who fought with two Washington State Patrol troopers who suspected him of drunken driving has been acquitted by a Stevens County jury.

KXLY reports (http://bit.ly/qxEhj8 ) Todd Chism was found not guilty Thursday of all charges of assault and resisting arrest. The jury also ordered the state of Washington to pay his legal fees.

Chism was subdued with a Taser and arrested in the fight last April outside his Nine Mile Falls home where he had been trying to get his truck out of a ditch. One trooper received a broken thumb and another a hand injury in the fight.

Chism said he reacted in self-defense after he was shocked with the Taser. The fire department lieutenant was suspended after the incident.
