ZURICH (AP) — FIFA says it has thrown Syria out of the qualifying tournament for the 2014 World Cup after fielding an ineligible player.

The unnamed player featured in both legs of last month’s qualifiers against Tajikistan. Syria won 6-1 on aggregate.

But Tajikistan has been reinstated and will take Syria’s place in Asia qualifying Group C along with Japan, Uzbekistan and North Korea.
