OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned struggling starting pitcher Brad Mills to Triple-A Las Vegas two days after the left-hander’s second consecutive rough outing.

Mills is 1-2 with an 8.35 ERA in four starts for Toronto this season. Since beating Baltimore on Aug. 5, he has allowed 12 earned runs in six innings. In Mills’ most recent outing against Seattle, the 26-year-old was tagged for six runs and six hits in three innings.

Left-hander Luis Perez, who earned the win in relief of Mills on Sunday, will move into the rotation. Perez (2-2) is scheduled to start Saturday at Oakland.

Toronto didn’t make a corresponding move Thursday but plan to call up right-hander Joel Carreno from Double-A New Hampshire.
