BOTHELL, Wash. (AP) — Google is expanding its Washington state operations with a new office in Bothell that could accommodate up to 840 workers.
The Mountain View, Calif., company already has 850 employees in Kirkland and Seattle. The Seattle Times reports (http://bit.ly/quuH9K ) that Google is now planning to renovate a two-story building in a Bothell office park.
Like other Silicon Valley companies, the online search giant has boosted its presence in Puget Sound in hopes of luring talent from Microsoft and Amazon. Google has said 2011 will be the biggest hiring year in the company’s history.
Data from the state Employment Security Department show that employment in the information sector across the state this summer reached its highest level on record. In June, there were about 142,300 jobs in the information sector and computer-systems design, most of them in the Seattle area.
