SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Hungry Island rallied from well behind the leaders in the final quarter mile and scored a 212-length upset victory in the $150,000 Lake Placid Stakes for fillies and mares at Saratoga Race Course on Sunday.

Alex Solis rode the Shug McGaughey-trained 3-year-old, who was sixth of seven and extremely wide turning into the stretch while running over yielding ground on the main turf course. She ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:53.77 in her fourth straight win and earned $90,000 for owner Emory Hamilton.

Hungry Island paid $21.40, $8.50 and $12.20. Runner-up Kathmanblu paid $7 and $12.20, and Dynamic Holiday returned $11 to show. The high show prices resulted from the fourth-place finish of 2-5 favorite Winter Memories.
