WASHINGTON (AP) — NFL defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth is due in court the day before the scheduled start of a misdemeanor sexual abuse trial.

Haynesworth is scheduled to be in D.C. Superior Court on Monday afternoon. A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office declined to comment on the reason for the hastily scheduled status conference, though it could suggest a possible plea agreement.

Haynesworth is accused of groping the breast of a waitress while having drinks with friends last February at the W Hotel in Washington. He has denied wrongdoing.

Haynesworth was traded to the New England Patriots last month from the Washington Redskins.
