MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy has cited a driver the deputy says was traveling 104 miles per hour in a 55 mph speed zone in the Medford, Ore., area.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Andrea Carlson says the deputy was parked on State Highway 62 on Monday afternoon when a speeding car zipped by.

Carlson says 22-year-old Cody Rogers of Astoria told the deputy he was driving to his parents’ home in Shady Cove. Rogers was cited for speeding and careless driving.
