DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies have called up third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff to start Wednesday’s game against the Houston Astros.

The Rockies acquired Kouzmanoff and cash considerations from the Oakland A’s on Tuesday for a player to be named later. He was assigned to Triple A Colorado Springs.

Kouzmanoff, who attended high school in Evergreen, Colo., hit .221 with four homers and 17 RBIs in 46 games for the A’s this season. He is hitting .255 in his career.

To make room for Kouzmanoff on the 40-man roster, the Rockies optioned infielder Chris Nelson to Triple A and designated infielder Ryan Rohlinger for assignment.

The Rockies have a full 40-man roster.
