INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Former Connecticut women’s basketball star Maya Moore has made the first cut for the NCAA’s Woman of the Year Award.

Moore is one of 30 semifinalists announced Tuesday by NCAA officials.

Ten women from each of the NCAA’s three divisions made the list, which will be paired to nine finalists in early September. The winner will be announced Oct. 16.

Annie Chandler is trying to become the second straight Arizona swimmer to win the award. Last year’s winner was Justine Schluntz. The last basketball player to win the award was Tennessee’s Nkolika Anosike in 2008.
