Letter: Health care access problem is real

The Columbian
Published: August 25, 2011, 5:00pm

The debate over the doctors not accepting Medicare patients is old news. Many years ago when I decided to use Medicare for health insurance, I could not find a doctor to accept me in the Vancouver area. I even approached the doctor who had cared for my dad and he would not accept me because of the Medicare payments. Not until I got a referral to a Portland doctor did I finally find a doctor who would accept a Medicare patient.

One might think that the members of the American Medical Association that is dedicated to people’s health are trying to send a political message.
