EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have waived quarterback Rhett Bomar and nine other players in their first round of roster cuts.
Bomar was a long shot to make the team after the Vikings drafted Christian Ponder in the first round in April. He was arrested on charges of drunken driving during training camp this month and did not play in the first three exhibition games.
The Vikings also waived defensive backs, Chris Adingupu and Simeon Castille, offensive lineman Conan Amituanai, tight end Barham, kicker Nate Whitaker, linebacker Jonathan Gilmore, receiver Andre Holmes, linebacker Kyle O’Donnell and defensive tackle Colby Whitlock.
The Vikings have 80 players on their roster and must get down to 53 by Sept. 4.
Their final preseason game is Thursday night against Houston.
