ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions released fullback Jerome Felton on Tuesday.
Felton’s role had dwindled in an offense that features tight ends with the ability to line up in the backfield at times. The Lions also have a handful of running backs they might want to keep on the roster.
Detroit drafted Felton in the fifth round in 2008 from Furman. He started 16 games over three seasons and played in 42, primarily as a blocking back and on special teams.
The 6-foot, 246-pound Felton had 39 career carries for 126 yards and 30 receptions for 240 yards.
