NEW YORK (AP) — Former NBC Sports chief Dick Ebersol will serve as an adviser to his successor on the network’s Olympic and NFL coverage.

NBC Sports Group Chairman Mark Lazarus said Tuesday that “Dick’s experience and knowledge will be of great benefit to our product.”

Ebersol resigned in May over a contract dispute with the new bosses at Comcast after more than two decades leading NBC Sports.

Lazarus says of hiring Ebersol that “I look forward to continuing my 15-year relationship with him.”

A former president of Turner Entertainment Group, Lazarus initially joined NBC earlier this year during the merger as president of the company’s sports cable group.

The hiring was first reported by The New York Times.
