New Felida park will have old name: Sorenson

Felida — The undeveloped park at Northwest 26th Avenue and 109th Street will become Sorenseon Neighborhood Park.

According to Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation, neighbors were invited to vote on a name for the park during the plan development process and decided to stick with Sorenson. That’s the name of the family that owned a large amount land in Felida land, including the park property, until the late 1970s.

This month, the Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission endorsed neighbors’ vote and recommended Sorenson Neighborhood Park be the permanent name. All that’s left is for Clark County commissioners to vote in favor, too.
