DAEGU, South Korea (AP) — Defending champion Usain Bolt easily qualified for the semifinals in the 200 meters Friday at the world championships.

The Jamaican was by far the slowest out of the blocks in his heat but quickly made up the difference to finish in 20.30 seconds.

His easy race contrasted sharply with the 100 final Sunday when he was disqualified for jumping the gun, ending any hope for his second straight sprint triple at the worlds.

After the 200, Bolt also is expected to run the 400 relay for Jamaica.

Walter Dix and Darvis Patton of the United States also qualified for the semifinals.
