CLEVELAND (AP) — Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Cleveland Indians, yet another injury for the team to contend overcome.

Choo, who injured his side last week while making a check swing, will be making his second trip to the DL. He missed seven weeks earlier this season after having surgery on a broken thumb. It’s been a disappointing season for the South Korean, who is batting .260 with eight homers and 36 RBIs. He also was arrested on drunken-driving charges.

The Indians also recalled right-hander Corey Kluber and lefty Nick Hagadon from Triple-A Columbus before Thursday’s matinee against Oakland. The club needed bullpen help after playing 16 innings on Wednesday.

Despite a long list of injuries to key players, the Indians begin September 512 games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central.
