Investigators on Thursday identified a man whose body was found floating in the Columbia River near Marine Park in Vancouver on Wednesday.

The body was that of Jeffrey A. Barry, 41, of Vancouver, according to a bulletin from the Vancouver Police Department.

The cause of death had not yet been determined by the Clark County medical examiner, the bulletin said.

A Clark County Sheriff’s Office boat and personnel from the police and Vancouver Fire Department went to the scene at 2:52 p.m. Wednesday.

Two people found the body floating in shallow water by some pilings east of the boat launch. It appeared the person had been dead for a long time, an official said.

Two Clark County residents drowned in the Columbia this summer. Carl Lacour, 45, of Camas jumped off a boat Aug. 21 near Jantzen Beach and drowned. On July 3, Battle Ground police Officer Michael M. Molzahn, 41, of Battle Ground drowned while swimming in the Columbia River. Both bodies were recovered.
