TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Ryan Pearson and Mike Morrison scored 14 points each as all five George Mason starters scored in double figures in a 65-53 Colonial Athletic Association victory over winless Towson on Saturday night.
Vertrail Vaughns scored 12 points, Sherrod Wright 11 and Bryon Allen 10 for the Patriots (6-2, 1-0), who opened a 19-5 lead with 5:22 elapsed and never trailed.
The Tigers (0-7) trailed 54-41 with 8:51 remaining but came back to cut the deficit to 56-51 at the 3:13 mark on a 3-pointer by Marcus Damas, who finished with 25 points.
George Mason answered with a dunk by Wright, a 3-pointer by Vaughns and two free throws by Allen to push its lead back to double digits at 63-51 with 49 seconds left. All seven of Towson’s losses have been by double digits.
The Patriots outrebounded the Tigers 41-26.
