Pepperdine holds on over Hawaii 73-67

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Corbin Moore scored a career-high 17 points and sank six free throws during a key second-half stretch to lead Pepperdine over Hawaii 73-67 on Saturday night.

The Waves (4-3) led 57-51 when Moore pulled down a defensive rebound and was fouled by Hawaii’s Vander Joaquim.

Joaquim then shoved two Pepperdine players, was given a double-technical and ejected with 5:05 left. Moore hit 5 of 6 free throws and was quickly fouled again. He made one more free throw to give Pepperdine a 63-51 lead.

The Warriors (2-3) soon pulled within 65-61, but Pepperdine’s Caleb Willis hit a 3-pointer on the next possession.

Taylor Darby also scored 16 points for Pepperdine while Nikolas Skouen added 12 and Joshua Lowery 10.

Hawaii’s Shaquille Stokes a game-high 18 points for Hawaii.
